The mission of the Department of Library and Information Science is to offer masters degree programs to educate students in information and knowledge management, critical thinking, and communication skills, thereby preparing them to become teachers, librarians, and other professionals and to pursue further academic studies. This department helps the University achieve its goals by offering two post-graduate programs, one doctoral programs, and add-on programs in the core areas of knowledge and information management.
Our programmes combine an emphasis on mastering subjects in depth with the development skills for study and work in the future. We value deep subject knowledge as well as the conceptual understanding that helps students make links between different aspects of a subject. We also encourage students to develop higher order thinking skills - problem solving, critical thinking, independent research, collaboration and presenting arguments.
At DLIS NBU, the placement unctions more than just placing students. While our students are annually recruited by Igovernment and corporates we go a step further. We ensure that every student is 360 degrees employable rather than just providing employments. Students are assessed with numerous aptitude and subjects tests. Their strengths and weaknesses are evaluated and are given highly individualized training.
